It’s easy, it’s fun, it’s educational…and did we mention fun? It’s also inexpensive.

WHAT IS IT?

Well, it’s more than just a literacy program. It’s a 3-day* classroom adventure specifically designed for students in 3rd through 5th grade. It is not a test or an exercise to determine how smart the children are. Rather, it is a fun way to talk using literary terms, to laugh and to experience first-hand what conflict, resolution and character development feel like. It's an event, one designed to leave them excited about reading, writing and hopefully about life. *(45 minutes per segment, conducted over 3 consecutive days to help build anticipation)

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The student’s teacher, a language arts teacher or a librarian uses a smart board to enter the Young Authors Literacy Program site where they will discover links for Day 1, Day 2 and Day 3 of the program. The pages contain simple instructions, and the video in each link is completely self-explanatory is it progresses through each lesson.

During this journey, the students will:

*Receive instruction from an author with over 20 years of experience teaching students about writing.

*Write using the strategies of conflict, resolution, character development and more.

*Problem solve as they will be immersed in a story requiring critical thinking.

*Be treated to an in-depth author presentation designed to reinforce what they have learned and inspire them to go even further.

At the end, each student receives their own book - carefully designed by The Young Author's Foundation - to maximize reading appeal while also encouraging students to write.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

This is the best part! Decide which grade level (or grade levels) will participate in the program, then figure the cost at only $15 per student. The fee simply pays for the book each child will be receiving. The digital portion of the literacy program, which is sponsored by The Young Authors Foundation, is free. Our goal is to create an excitement for reading and writing…to light the spark…and then give students the wings to soar even higher. Questions, comments?
