The Legend of Sir Quillilot!

This...this was the original component of TheYoungAuthors literacy project.

During Covid, author Alan St. Jean had time to pursue something he'd long been wanting to accomplish: Create a program for kids that encouraged them to read and actually taught them how to write. He established THE YOUNG AUTHORS FOUNDATION and started putting the pieces together. As we said, it was during Covid, the author had a lot of time on his hands. Here's a picture of Alan St. Jean with his Covid beard and Allie, his Covid dog. In the picture below, well, this is his alter ego, Sir Quillilot. We told you this was crazy.

The Legend of Sir Quillilot was his first step, a crazy step, in building a very strategic approach to teaching literacy. Music, illustration, color, humor (lots of humor) and teamwork form the building blocks of an effective and honest method of passing on a love, hopefully a life-long passion for reading and writing.

Your kids are going to love this.

Here is the 'Peppy the Pig' worksheet. You'll need to print about one for about every three students in your class.

Have fun with it!

Opening day for the Young Authors 3 Day Journey. You'll enjoy great discussion, a fun writing exercise and a crazy, unexpected finish.

Teachers, you and your class are going to love this! It's kind of like and escape room mixed with dinner theater. You can do it over lunch if you want, please note that the classroom goes through this together as a team. You, teacher, are the coach! You'll navigate through the pages and even help with answers if you'd like...

No forms are necessary for this exercize. Get ready for the crazy.

Would the kids like to write their own story? Here's a helpful form to guide them on their way! Have fun!
