OUR MISSION:
TO SPARK A LOVE OF READING AND WRITING IN CHILDREN
Fact: An emotional connection to reading and writing in children 6 - 11 years old will change their life forever.
How do we do this? By providing thoughtfully crafted books to children that entertain, connect and inspire.

STEP #2
WORK WITH PROFESSIONALS
FROM THE ARTS
TO RAISE THE BAR
Authors, Illustrators and Musicians are gifted individuals whose talents have been overlooked in an educational system with ever-increasing demands placed on teachers. Ask any professional educator and they will tell you that the arts have been pushed aside for other priorities. We believe creativity is an integral part of learning. The Young Authors Foundation will tap into this community to develop books that capture the imagination of children, connect with them and make a difference
- a significant difference -
in their lives.
STEP #3
INSPIRE & MOTIVATE TO WRITE
Creating a great book is only the beginning. Now that we've captured the attention of the reader...what a perfect time to teach and motivate! Every book provided by The Young Authors Foundation will include writing space at the end for children to write their own stories and draw their own pictures complete with instruction and encouragement. Allowing the book to become 'personal' to the child creates one of the strongest encouragers of emotional connection.

STEP #4
MAKE THE WORLD
A BETTER PLACE
In a world where profit is king, the quality of literary production has suffered. Most books are published based on their sales potential rather than on any wholesome metric. For children's books, this is especially concerning. The Young Authors Foundation takes an unselfish and unapologetic approach to putting better books into the hands of kids. Period.
STEP #1
IDENTIFY REASONS CHILDREN DON'T READ AND ADDRESS THEM
This is easier said than done. Kids are bombarded with distractions, so we have to compete with those distractions. Listening to the reasons children DON'T read lends valuable insight into developing books they WILL read. Kids will say 'Books are Boring' - but that is an oversimplification of the problem and does not lend to a solution.
Here are the top four reasons kids aren't reading books and this is what we're going to do about it:
#1 TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS
Instead of complaining about the lure of video games (it's a reality), we're going to compete! How? By working smarter, using bright colors, music, video and stories that capture their imagination.
#2 FORMAT NOT INTERESTING
We're going to use a Graphic Novel approach. Interest in this format is growing on an exponential basis. We must meet the children where they are.
#3 TOPIC NOT INTERESTING
We will create fun characters along with exciting, yet relatable stories. If kids don't relate with the story, the book will not connect with them.
#4 READING SEEMS OVERWHELMING
We're going to employ an easy to read, non-threatening format that will entertain yet still challenge them conceptually.
